Ticking noise or LED flickers:

Replace 220uF/25v capacitor ------>

Horizontal lines on picture

Often caused by failure of the 470uF capacitor next to the tuner module.
(If this has failed, you can be sure that all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply need to be replaced, too!)

Displays "Card Invalid" when card is inserted

Look at the front left corner of the main printed circuit board.
Next to the 4 pin connector you should see a small diode and a 10R resistor.
Measure this resistor and replace if not 10R.

My receiver will not always respond to the remote control

Carefully dismantle the receiver and look for the 40-pin microcontroller at the centre of the main board. If this is in a socket, lift it out carefully and rinse out the socket with isoproplyl alcohol. Replace the IC the correct way round! Dry off the alcohol with a hairdryer.

Clean the connector plug where the power supply connects to the left side of the main board. Work the connector plug up and down several times to wipe the contacts clean. WD-40 is an excellent cleaner for this purpose.

Finally, set the 5 volt supply on this connector (3rd pin from front) to precisely 5.00 volts by turning the adjuster RV600 on the power supply board.
